NEAR MY HOME

This images belongs to the cycle of NEAR MY HOME.

This is fragments of Strossmayer cathedral in my town Djakovo in Croatia (Đakovo). I process the photo in Photoshop. You can see the spots, but the photo is good quality, that is damage of war in 1991. Strossmayer cathedral is world famous, rich with ornaments on the facade, especially in the interior with frescoes and ornaments. It was built in the period 1866.-1882. in Neo-Gothic style.

In Photoshop, I changed the colors, I gave a dose of fluidity. With brushes I "build" a new brick facade on some places. I treated symbolically traces of the time that the weather and the shrapnel left from the war.

I signing the photo discrete in the corner. Photo is professionally printed on high quality semi glossy photo paper. I prefer semi-gloss photo paper because I do not like totally brilliant reflection. Semi-gloss photo paper presents better my style.

Vesna Kolobaric

Has a degree in Textiles and Fashion Design from the Faculty of Technology in Zagreb (1991.) She has learned the web design (IVORA, Osijek 2010). She has been making unique clothes, doing textile painting, patchwork, quilt, hand weaving, digital design and print, experimental techniques, textile sculptures, 2D and 3D art, makes contemporary jewelery. In different cycles of her work she looks into how the psycho-social, economic and ecological influences shape the visual identity of a certain period of time and how the technological and scientific advances affect the use of material in art creation. All this has been expressed in her cycle of work “Panonian Games”, “Waiting for Godot”, “Timeless”, “Frontal Tam-Tam”, “Pillows”, The Smell of Burning” , "Energy" and so on. Vesna Kolobaric is a member of the textile group of ULUPUH (The Croatian Association of Artists of Applied Arts), HDLU Istok (Croatian Association of fine art) and HZSU (Croatian Freelance Artists' Association).
